  • This is the first I've heard of this. I think its amazing.  Lately I've noticed more resistance to legalization on the ground in my area (Maryland).  This gives me some encouragement.  We need to go for outright legalization on the federal level.

  • Yes that is what I was trying to say.  As far as the checks go I'm not really sure.  It costs a lot of money to give people a small check.  On the other hand I could really use one of those checks right about now.

  • The aim of the bail out was to buy toxic assets such as securities based on bundled sub-prime mortgages and credit default swaps.  Investing in these assets was very profitable for a time but since the burst in the housing market they all became worthless.

  • I understand thats a lot of jobs which means tough times on a lot of people.  Even more than the number that would be laid off.  I just don't see this bail out working, there problems are so ingrained.

  • I really agree that transit options are badly needed.  The big problem is that our suburbs are so sprawled out it would be basically impossible to truly connect all of our communities through transit.

  • I could see that.  I don't see why though.  Lieberman has been a traitor for a long time and you can never count on his vote anyway.  The Dems already through him out.

  • Because they lost their rights. Their fighting to get them back.  They should have worked harder to defeat the referendum.  But that is in the past, and right now they are fighting for a right they had which was just taken away.
